Renovation of a theater in an old chapel, with a program of amplified music, pop and rock, jazz and world music and small-scale theater performances. The focus is on the renovation and expansion of the backstage and audience facilities, a new loading entrance and an improved thermal envelope.
The scenographic intervention revisited the audience seating and the grid, and updates the signal and control infrastructure for the sound and lighting systems. The seating layout is changed from a single rake to a lightly sloping parterre with the possibility of standing room and a small balcony. The backstage is expanded and reconfigured with dressing rooms and new storage spaces.
The Space Factory assisted the client, users and architects with the optimalization of the venue with concepts and studies of a completely new seating layout, sightline studies and a new cabling infrastructure for AV and Stage Lighting systems, and a new control system for the chain hoists.
